Brief history of the Department:

The Biotechnology course was started the earliest in 2002 for UG and 2005 for PG under the Botany and Zoology Departments. The Department of Biotechnology at Govt. N. P. G. College of Science, Raipur (C.G.) was established in June 2013 to contribute the fascinating and emerging area of science. The department offers a two year M.Sc. Degree programme and three year B.Sc. course in Biotechnology. The future goals of the department are set to developed advance resources and in making significant contribution in environment biotechnology and molecular biology.

 

 

 

Vision

To be a Centre of excellence in the field of biotechnology equipped to create graduates and post-graduates who endeavour for the welfare of mankind. To develop environment and sustainable developments thrust area of research and development. To realize and harness the potential of Biotechnology as a human endeavour for the highest intellectual pursuit and as a effective future delivery system for creating a clean environment, welfare and progress of humanity.

  2. To create awareness towards socio-ethical implications of potentials of biotechnology.
  3. Development of human resources by skill up-gradation of students through workshops and training.

Curricular reforms year wise

  • 2014-2015-

In the session 2014-15, a meeting of board of studies for (UG& PG) Biotechnology was held on 17/07/2015 at 12.30 pm in Biotechnology department. Members of board of studies were approved B.Sc. & M. Sc syllabus and no changes were incorporated into M.Sc. course curriculum and for B.Sc. Biotechnology syllabus is same as per Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur.

  • 2015-2016-

In this session 2015-16, a meeting of board of studies was held on 26/04/2016 at 12.00 pm in department of Biotechnology. Members of board of studies were approved question paper patterns and distribution of marks for B. Sc Biotechnology.  .

  • 2016-2017-

In this session 2016-17, a meeting of board of studies was held on 06/05/2017 at 12.00 pm in department of Biotechnology. Changes in question paper pattern for M.Sc. Biotechnology were approved by members of board of studies. Question paper divided into 3 sections A, B, C and sections A will be multiple choices, sections B will be short answer type and sections C will be long answer type questions.
