Vision

The vision of the department is to educate and train students in the field of Microbiology & expand the knowledge of this scientific field through research.

Mission

To prepare undergraduate  students for professional courses & carrier in various fields of microbiology.

To initiate Post Graduate  program to prepare students with research skills & in depth knowledge for professional careers.

To enhance  research opportunities for faculties & students.

To enhance collaboration  with industries & other organizations of high learning.

1. To expand infrastructure and lab. Facilities.

3. To concentrate on paper publication in national and international journals.
4. To provide internet facilities in the department.
5. Up gradation of faculties and technicians by refresher and training courses

Collaboration – The PG course is introduced from July 2018, so the department is trying to establish collaboration with other academic institute and labs

Curriculum

2013-14- meeting of board of studies for session 2013-14 was held on date 28 /10/2013 department. The  new  marking scheme  and pattern of question paper setting were discussed and approved by member of board of studies .no major reform in syllabus .

2015-2016- meeting of board of studies for session was held on date 21/04/16 department. Following change were approved by member of board of studies -

 repetition of syllabus content should be cut out

multiple choice question and short answer question should be added in B.Sc. III

 Proposal To start PG program in microbiology

2017-2018

meeting of board of studies for session 2013-14 was held on date 03/05/2017 department. Following change were approved by member of board of studies - major reform had been done in syllabus of B.Sc. I  B.Sc. II    B.Sc. III

2018-2019-

 meeting of board of studies for session 2018-19 was held on date 25/4/2018

 department. Following change were approved by member of board of studies-

question paper pattern  were added  in syllabus

proposal for PG program has been sent to higher education.

2019-2020

meeting of board of studies for session 2019-20 was held on date 25/7/2019 at department committee Approve   syllabus for M.Sc. course.

1. Rangoli competition

 To explore the creativity among the students, Rangoli competition was organized by the department of microbiology on 7/11/23.  The students of B. Sc. and M. Sc. of the microbiology are actively participated.

  Extention activity -

The students of the microbiology department, Govt. Nagarjuna PG College of Science Visited NCNR, PRSU, Raipur on 28/1/ 2025. A total of 31 students participated in the above programme.
